Particleboards are being manufactured in Malaysia mainly from rubberwood (Hevea brasiliensis) and other hardwood species for decades. The rubberwood (RW) tree is characterized as light hardwood tree, normally having low branching, white to pale cream color, good machining and working properties, and a density ranging from 0.48 to 0.65 g/cm3, depending on tree age [3]. The log can be used after the decline of latex production, around 25–30 years of later to tree plantation. Due to the attractive color and appearance of the growth rings, the log was used for the furniture and interior fittings, domestic flooring, staircase components, and manufacture of kitchen utensils. However, RW price increased up to RM 135 per m3 in 2011 due to the growing rubber price and the high demand on RW [2].
