A patient with preeclampsia should be hospitalized
and considering the often unusual symptoms of preeclampsia,
every pregnant women who feels “poorly”
should be screened for this disorder [27]. In preeclamptic
patients it is crucial to maintain the correct
blood pressure and avoid aggravation to eclampsia [23].
Magnesium sulfate is the medication of choice to
counteract eclampsia and it is proven to decrease maternal
mortality [2, 24]. Moreover, a course of betamethasone
for fetal lung maturation should be administered in
every case of early-onset preeclampsia. Both medications
were administered to our patient.
