Despite the growing volume of motivation related research, scholars have noted
that travel motivations are not yet well understood and suggested that more research
on pleasure travel motivations needs to be done in order to develop more complete
models.46 Moreover, studies relating to travel motivations for leisure travel have often been focused on the general population. Thus, instead of viewing one heterogeneous market,by looking at specific groups researchers can identify the needs of smaller homogeneous groups. As it would appear that solo women travelers have their own travel preferences and characteristics it would seem appropriate that we discover the benefits sought and unique travel motivations of this segment of the population. At the same time, we should be cognizant that there are demographic, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural differences among female travelers and therefore all female travelers should not be typed as having similar travel motivations.
