Operations Management International Inc., headquartered in Denver, will receive the 2000 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award this year for performance excellence and quality achievement. Only four companies are being so honored and OMI is the only company in the service category to win.
OMI manages and operates water and wastewater systems for government and industry. It is a member of CH2M Hill Companies Ltd.
Named after a former secretary of commerce, the annual awards recognize U.S. companies based on seven performance criteria: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, process management and performance and business results. OMI officials said they use that criteria as a cornerstone for their "Obsessed With Quality" process initiated in 1990.
