•Yin Shun advocated the doctrine of Ekayana, meaning that all Buddhist schools (Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana) are actually one vehicle. Their differences are simply differences kinds of expedience (upaya) to bring enlightenment to all beings.
•This doctrine had been around in China for many centuries. It was a Chinese effort to bring some unified coherence into the many diverse Buddhist systems of thought that had been adopted from India when the Chinese brought scriptures from there.
