The SEA policy knowledge findings indicate that knowledge on
environmental and solid waste policy/strategy was balanced
with a 52% knowledge for environmental policy and 55%
knowledge for SWM strategy. Knowledge levels for environmental and SWM legislation was both high at 78% and 66% respectively. However knowledge levels for EIA was relatively high at 84% as compared with awareness for SEA which was only at 24%. Knowledge levels for pollution prevention
principle was at 47%, public participation principle at 60%
and precautionary principle at 50% while awareness levels for
3R concepts was the highest at 99% (Fig. 3). Chi-square analysis is statistically significant at 95% confidence level (x2 = 4.84;p = 0.03) for moderate/high awareness.
