These two correlations have been widely validated using the
experimental data from different kinds of fluids and have only been
compared with the measurements for the LiNO3 salt [16,17]. Based
on the agreement of the predicted and the experimental results in
terms of the Nu number, the present CFD model can also investigate
the applicability of these correlations in calculating the Nu number
for the FLiNaK salt. As clearly shown in Figs. 7 and 8, the CFD predicted
results correspond well with those obtained by the Gnielinski’s
correlation, but the discrepancy is greater when these
results are compared with Hausen’s correlation calculations These
comparisons reveal that the Gnielinski’s correlation may be more
suitable for predicting the heat transfer characteristics of the FLi-
NaK salt than the Hausen’s correlation.
