Average discharge values (average ± SE) in the upstream section
were 69.4 ± 1.9 m

during wet periods. Average discharge values in the downstream section

during dry periods, and 351.4 ± 8.1 m

during wet periods. Therefore, discharge was 1.5 times greater downstream than upstream of the reservoirs, but the generalflow patterns
were similar in the two sections (Fig. 1). Dry periods had higher water
temperature and conductivity than wet periods. Upstream sites had
higher suspended solids and nitrate and ammonium concentration
than downstream sites (Table 1)
