Buses and Taxis
SBS Transit runs 250 bus services with a fleet of more than 3,000 buses while SMRT buses operate a fleet of 1,050 buses. In total, both bus companies move about 3 million people to their destinations daily in clean, air conditioned comfort. For bus routes and timetables, go to the SMRT or SBS Transit websites.
If you prefer to take the taxi, just flag one down by the road (or at any taxi-stand if you are in the Central Business District), call the common taxi booking line at 6-3425-222, or tap out the alphabetical prompter 6-DIAL-CAB. 10 different taxi operators run over 26,000 air-conditioned taxis in Singapore and all are dedicated to providing smooth, comfortable rides for commuters. Cab fares start at SGD3 at flag down, and on average rise by SGD0.20 after travelling every 400m or so.
