The study presented here generated mini-barcode data for 11
species of Indian snakes using two different loci within COI gene
and demonstrates the use of the 175 bp region (amplified using
primer set I) for species identification, which further explores the
potential of COI gene as a DNA barcoding marker in species
identification even beyond the established barcode region trust that the increasing submission of barcode data on snake
species in the public databases will eventually prove this minibarcoding
technique as a robust means of species identification for
snakes
