The free flow of services also could be restrained.
The boom in offshoring and outsourcing generally
has been especially novel in services (services classically
being more geographically restrained). A
backlash against the shift of services jobs overseas,
typified but by no means restricted to call centres,
could be driven by job losses, by concerns over the
privacy of information, security concerns over data
and cultural barriers where they are part of the human
interaction of services.
