In thispaper,theUVsensitiveopticallyactivecellulose fibers containedof0.5%w/wSr2CeO4, Gd4O3F6:5%
Eu3þ and CeF3:5%Tb3þ with respectivelyblue,redandgreenemissionaredescribed.The fibers were
formed froman8%byweightcellulosespinningsolutioninN-methylmorpholine-N-oxide(NMMO).The
modifiers werechosenbecauseoftheirspecific colorofemittedlight.Photoluminescentparticleswere
introduced intothepolymermatrixduringthedissolutionprocessofcelluloseinNMMO.Theemission
intensity andexcitationenergyofthe final cellulosicluminescentproductswereexaminedbyphoto-
luminescence spectroscopy.Thedegreeofdispersionofthenanoparticlesinthepolymermatrixwas
evaluatedusingtransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM).Theinfluence ofmodifier's particlesonthe
mechanical propertiesofthe fibers wasdetermined.
