In Hinduism, Vishnu (/ˈvɪʃnuː/; Sanskrit: विष्णु, Viṣṇu) is the Supreme God Svayam Bhagavan of Vaishnavism (one of the three principal denominations) and one of the three supreme deities (Trimurti).[1] He is also known as Narayana and Hari. As one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta tradition,[1] he is conceived as "the Preserver or the Protector"[2] within the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity of the divinity.
