In the course of implementing this core objective the
Federation has been taking various initiatives aimed at
enhancing the capacity of its members. These initiatives
have been overseen and/or implemented by a Capacity
Building Committee appointed by the Executive Committee
(EC) of FIDIC.
Over the years FIDIC has grown in terms of number of
members, geographical location and the activities carried
out. This growth has posed challenges to the ways and
means of effecting capacity building activities.
As a result of this, it has become necessary for FIDIC to
reconsider the way its Capacity Building activities can be
carried out in a manner that will address the needs of its
broad based groups efficiently and effectively.
The Committee does not get involved in the implementation
of day – to – day activities. Instead, the Committee is
responsible for identifying relevant Capacity Building
activities and assign them to the committee or task force of
FIDIC that is best at delivering that activity. The Committee
collects feedback from training activities to get the basis for
the design of new training activities.
The Capacity Building Committee liaises with the FIDIC
Secretariat to receive, plan and assign any capacity building
ideas originating from other committees, to ensure an overall
consistent approach is adopted.
The CBC follows up to identify all activities of FIDIC that have
Capacity Building impact and plans how they should be
implemented by relevant committees.
