SANs provide an ideal way to meet the basic requirements of HA and clustering.
Because of the any-to-any connectivity, all hosts can access the storage
devices. SANs make it easy to configure multiple paths between servers,
switches, and storage devices. If one path (cable, host-based adapter, or switch)
fails, data can be routed over the alternate path. It is relatively easy to change
storage devices or data paths to hosts in a cluster.
