Results
The demographic and clinical data on the 173 randomized
patients are shown in Tables 1 and 2. It can be
seen that there were no significant differences between
the placebo and drug-treated patients on any of a variety
of factors including anthropometric variables by gender
(Table 1), yearly income, night-time snacking, lowest
weight since age 18, physician rating of motivation, or
the age at which obesity began (Table 2). Previous
attempts to lose weight, the outcome of these attempts
and the family history of obesity were likewise not significantly
different between groups.
