Road construction is one of the principal works in the field of
civil engineering, and in turn is a major consumer of fossil fuels for
the production of asphalt mixtures. The need to adapt this type of
production to cleaner processes leads to a search for reducing
manufacturing temperature, trying to make it more sustainable
and healthy, reducing at the same time the greenhouse gases
emissions rates (Rubio et al., 2012) that are so harmful to the
environment.
