To ensure park survival, there is a need to involve local inhabitants with conservation efforts , rather than simply excluding them from the park. Currently, the boundaries of the park are not well known by the population that lives in and around the park , and even the park rangers are not well informed about the protected areas of Honduras , or the flora and fauna within this region ( Fonseca et al 1999 ) .While local non-government organizations are working with local population , their efforts need to be supplemented by Honduras government agencies . The study of relationships across such boundaries is an integral component of geography , a discipline in which the human environment and the physical environment are studied interactively . This type of research , the methods used , and the tools it incorporates provide an example of geography's strengths , at the center of such interdisciplinary research.
