A second recent evaluation of the stone has been made by Drs. Boechari, epigraphical expert of the Indonesian National Research Centre for Archaeology and lecturer at the University of Indonesia. He also contradicts Dr. Kern in judging the script to be no later than the twelfth century. In his evaluation of the affiliation of the script to a specific area however he differs with Dr. de Casparis in distinguishing a closer affinity with Sumatran than with Javanese writing style, and suspects that language was Sanskrit, uniformly used in Sumatra, rather than Old Javanese.
