Thailand beat this Turkish B team 3-2 in the semifinal of the Montreux Volley Masters a couple of weeks ago, and Japan's 2-3 loss to this team shows that it is no longer a strong team (Japan could have used Sarina Koga and Miyu Nagaoka as attackers but strangely did not do so) but just an above average team. What this means in practical terms is that Japan is likely to go from bronze in the 2012 London Olympics to zero in this year's Rio Olympics. Japan needs to build up a credible new team for the 2020 Olympics to avoid humiliation as host.
