It was hypothesized that internships: (1) assist students in the “crystallization of vocational self-concept “ (e.g., perceived job interests); (2) make the transition from school to work easier; (3) result in greater employment opportunities for students with these experiences than those with each hypothesis. For example, Hypothesis #3 was tested by looking at number of job offers, accepted of job satisfaction, and ratings by employers of intern performance.
