Although infrequently encountered, this graceful gorgonian sea fan is readily distinguished by is comb-like growth form.It has a Y-shaped base from which numerous, parallel branches rise vertically,not unlike the strings of a harp.The color is frequently red, although sometimes yellow and white.The harp coral commonly grows at depths of 20-30 min areas exposed to strong currents, expecially outer reefs slope and lagoon passes.The sea fans,sea whips,soft corals,blue corals and sea pens belong to a group known as octocorals(eights tentacles surround the mouth of each polyp )
