Finally we need to have some way of deciding if a sport club is any more or less wealthy than it was 5 or 10 years ago. A sport organization that has become less wealthy over the years would be cause for concern. A quick look at the Australian or British Olympic Committees suggests that it might just be in this situation, since they will accumulate assets for the early part of the 4-year Olympic cycle only to liquidate a large slap of them in the later part of the cycle in order to fund athletes' participation at the Games. On the other hand, it would hard to see Tennis Australia or the All England Tennis Club being worse off now than they were in 1996, given the overwhelming success of the Grand Slam tennis championships.
