With a Michelson configuration, the same kind of pattern can be obtained due to interferences between the 2 reflections on surfaces beyond beam-splitter, (2) and (3) on Fig. 3. Unlike on the Fabry Perot configuration, the reflection at the end of the fibre is not considered.
The two types of interferometer (Fabry-Perot or Michelson) are applied to different set ups but they can use the same fibre and the same signal conditioner to retrieve the measurement.
