1. Wearing clean scrub attire, the research
assistant (RA) scrubbed and
cleansed her hands and arms with antiseptic
for 3 minutes according to the
policy in the study NICU.
2. The RA warmed her hands under the
radiant warmer prior to touching the
infant.
3. Infants were all placed on their left
side with a diaper roll used for back
support. Data collection began 10
minutes after position change to allow
for adaptation of the infant to the
new position.
