one of the twelve other carbon sources revealed that both the
strains could utilize all the carbon sources for growth and IAA
production (Table5). The maximum growth and IAA production of
both the strains were obtained with 0.5% mannitol(Fig. 2C). Effect
of carbon source innodular rhizobia for IAA production was
studied (Shridevi and Mallaiah,2007;Ghoshetal.,2008). Experiment was also conducted to determine the in fluence of nitrogen
sources on IAA production optimization.Production of IAA varied
with the seven different nitrogen source sused with L-asparagine
being the best at 0.2% in both the two strains (Table6, Fig. 2D).
Jordan (1984) observed that Rhizobia could utilize different nitrogenous compounds for their growth and that might be responsible
for production of IAA. While studying the effect of vitamins for
growth and production,it was found that the biotinat 1 mg/ml
level in duced maximum growth and IAA production in both cases
(Fig. 3).
