Increasing reading achievement is an important consideration of the school, district and state.
In order to meet reading benchmark goals in the third grade, students require a strong foundation to be
set in kindergarten in order for first and second grade teachers to build upon. The researcher believes
that discovering the best method or methods to utilize for teaching sight words to beginning readers
will enable students to build a strong foundation that will allow for greater academic success in the area
of reading in future years.
