I would like to inform you the additional situation progress as follows:
Yesterday (23 Jan 14), CMPO (Center for Maintaining Peace and Order) issued six measures to tackle the protests:
1. No gathering of five or more people in areas marked out by the CMPO are allowed. People can only gather for the election.
2. Newspapers and other media are prohibited from presenting news which could raise public fears or distorting information that could affect national security
3. Prohibit the use of certain routes or the use of vehicles by the order of the CMPO
4. Ban the use of buildings and areas, as well as the entering specific places is prohibited under the orders of the CMPO
5. Order people to be evacuated from certain areas for their safety and not enter other areas in line with orders of the CMPO
6. The CMPO will be responsible for setting the timeframe for enforcing the measures and applying conditions for operations to avoid causing more trouble to the public than necessary
Today afternoon, the Constitution Court will make a decision, requested by the Election Committee (EC), whether the general election could be postponed and who has the authority to order the postponement.
