People in desert regions eat a lot of barley, millet, and sorghum. These staple foods do not need a lot of water, so they grow well in hot and dry areas like deserts. One of the most common fruits in dessert areas is dates and figs. They are often eaten dried and dried figs are also used in many cooking recipes of these regions.
