2.2. Measurement instruments
In order to elicit comprehension problems resulting from insufficiency or lack of linguistic awareness, data were collected through the following tasks: classroom activities including asking and answering reading comprehension questions, writing the paraphrase of seemingly difficult/long sentences (i.e. complex and/or compound sentences) and other activities such as translation data (i.e. translating problematic sentences from English into Persian) and exam data which included open-ended questions based on the just mentioned tasks.
2.3. Procedures The data were collected in one academic year. During the first and second semester, comprehension problems resulting from insufficiency or lack of linguistic awareness were elicited and at the same time, L2 learners were trained how to eliminate these problems.
