As far as intellectual functioning is concerned, some recent suggestions seem to
indicate that general cognitive functioning, perceptual
visual-motor and gross-motor abilities
are strongly linked in terms of neural substrates (e.g., the role of the cerebellum in
both cognitive and motor processing) as well as cognitive processes. In addition,
according to the literature, children with DCD are more likely than controls to show
an altered pattern of nonverbal intellectual functioning.
