The volume of syncytiotrophoblast increased in
PP group compared with the C group, but this difference
was not statistically significant. Biswas
performed placental bed biopsies at cesarean delivery
in women with PP and controls, and reported
that the syncytiotrophoblast increased significantly
in PP group compared to the control group
(7). Increment of syncytiotrophoblast may affect
fetal growth and development because of more
thickness of blood-placental barrier.
