Eleven purified isolated fungi strains designated as C1 to C12 were isolated from the lignolytic decaying matter. They were purified and screened on the basis of their potential for soluble COD removal efficiency, color reduction and enzymes production. They were cultivated periodically on potato dextrose agar (PDA) at 28 C and preserved at 4 C. Media, PDA or potato dextrose broths (PDB) were used for routine culture of the fungus at 28 C with shaking for liquid cultures.
