The N-terminal domain 1mediates protein^protein interactions,
DnaA oligomerization and interaction with
DnaB protein. Several techniques were used to demonstrate
oligomerization. Domains 1of E. coli [46] and of
Streptomyces lividans [47] were able to functionally replace
the oligomerization domain of VcI repressor. Physical interaction
of isolated domain 1was demonstrated with a
solid phase binding assay in vitro, showing that dimerization
via domain 1does not require other parts of DnaA
protein [46]
