Yet, with growing concern that early violent victimization can cause later
socioeconomic disadvantage, relatively little is known about general lifecourse
consequences of victimization, including processes of educational
and socioeconomic attainment that are central to theory and research on
the transition to adulthood (Booth, Crouter, & Shanahan, 1999). This paper
furthers our understanding of the consequences of victimization and the
factors that influence socioeconomic disadvantage in adulthood by
specifying and testing a life-course-based conceptual model that links
