A commercial preparation of the plant resistance elicitor benzothiadiazole (BTH) (Bion, Syngenta Crop Protection) was tested for its capacity to induce systemic resistance against chrysanthemum yellow phytoplasma (CYP) infection in the Chrysanthemum carinatum plant. Following one 2.4 mM BTH application, plants were exposed to CYP-infective Macrosteles quadripunctulatus leafhoppers.
