Most countries, however, eventually go along with such U.S. efforts, in part because they have little choice (foreign aid and investment funds often depend on agreeing to such reforms), in part because their own institutions are not working well, and in part because they also believe the U.S. institutions and ways of doing thing to be superior. In today’s world, given such immense U.S. power and no real alternative to it, most prudent governments will eventually come around to doing pretty much the United States wants them to do.
