The Nukhul half-graben models have been used
to quantify and help understand subtle controls
on early syn-rift facies distributions related to
growth folds, fault propagation and fault
segment linkage. The quantitative outcrop
models also facilitate the development of
accurate palaeogeographic, sequence
stratigraphic and tectono-stratigraphic models.
Such studies can also be applied to improve the
palaeoenvironmental context of fossil sites.
