In conclusion, an active thermophilic lignocellulolytic microbial
consortium has been obtained in this study. The consortium has
been capable of efficiently degrading lignocellulose substrates and
represents the first example on analysis of a structurally stable lignocellulose
degrading consortium together with its multi-species
lignocellulolytic enzyme system. This work is considered a significant
contribution to the research on lignocellulosic biomass
degradation by complex microbial community with potential for
further biotechnological applications, especially the degradation of
biomass-based biorefinery feedstocks.
