In paragraph 2, what was the King compared to?
In paragraph 3, how long will the mourning period last?
What else is required for people to do to pay respect to the King?
Amid the political turmoil and perpetual conflicts in the kingdom, the king was revered as the only unifying symbol that kept the country together. In fact, he was the only reason this deeply polarized country hasn’t broken apart for the past 70 years of his reign. Now without King Bhumibol, on one has any idea what direction the country is headed next. The Thai citizens are now in constant anxiety about a future without him. Where to go from here is definitely the question in the grieving Thais’ mind, but not the question that they need an immediate answer. The wind of change is approaching, but that’s the matter of tomorrow. Now it’s time for grief and tranquility.
