The juvenile phase is described as a physiologically based period,
when a plant is insensitive to the conditions that later promote
floral initiation. Exposing plants to inductive environmental conditions before the plants are mature will not induce flowering
(Damann and Lyons, 1995). Thus, it is of great significance to confirm the end of the juvenile phase, which is also the most effective
time for floral induction treatment. According to the results in this
study, the floral transition started at the 21-leaf stage, by which
time the plants had already finished the juvenile phase. Therefore,
it is before 21-leaf stage that the 14 h photoperiod treatment should
be applied in the commercial production of lisianthus TDC
