show the percentage yield of extracts obtained from different seaweed extracts using various organic solvents. The result shows that percentage yields are significantly different (at P< 0.05). The yield of all methanolic extracts were highest compared to other solvents from the same seaweed species. Previous studies also showed methanol is a good solvent to extract bioactive compounds from living organism (Leela & Satirapipathkul, 2011 ). This is due to the physical characteristic of methanol to exhibits ability to dissolve both polar and non-polar compounds (Serap, Ozkan, Nalan, & Guleray, 2009).
