9. On Saturday morning, Zachary and his dad awoke before the sun was up. By 6.15 A.M.,all three fishers were equipped with waders and life jackets. They stood at the edge of the river and cast their lines into the water. Zachary had practiced long and hard until he could cast his line precisely where he wanted it--or just about anyway.
10. Zachary tucked the jar of Trout Attract into the front pocket of his waders. Trying to keep the jar hidden from his dad and uncle, he dipped his bait, a yellow plastic fish, into the jar. The solution smelled terrible, but according to the magazines, the trout would gobble it up. Zachary glanced at his dad and uncle to see if they notice what he did. Fortunately they were concentrating on flicking their lines behind them and casting the lines gracefully over the water.
11. Dad was the first of the group to snag a trout. The fish was small, only about seven inches long. He gently removed the hook and tossed the fish back into the river. Then Uncle Greg caught a big rainbow trout, about a foot long. He proudly displayed the fish and then placed it in a bucket. Zachary couldn't help feeling a little impatient, but he was certain his special bait would lure the trout soon.
