LIMITED CAPACITY OF ATTENTION
The third principle of attention states that the resources
of attention have a limited capacity in the
sense that there appears to be only so much available
and they appear to become depleted with physical
and mental effort. The reserves are renewed
slowly o ver t ime a nd, t o s ome e xtent, by c ognitiveemotional
arousal. Consequently, three factors are
of critical importance to this principle of attention:
the size of the reserve, the rate of depletion, and the
rate of renewal.
