Connective tissue changes
Aging also increase the amount of connective tissue within the extracellular matrix of the muscle of the skeletal muscle. It's Generally assumed that the increase connective tissue results in decrease ROM and increase muscle stiffness, although there have been reports that muscle stiffness may not change or may decrease with aging.all of these changes in the muscle results in decrease muscle strength and, more important,a loss in muscle power. This the loss of muscle power,or the ability to contract the muscle with high force and high velocity, maybe a cause of fall in the elderly resistance exercise training in the elderly appear to have positive effect on aging muscle, causing an increase in the size of muscle fiber and an increase in strength and functional performance however the response to resistance training is more limited in the elderly than in the young
