Daily checks/equipment
This list is by no means definitive and each unit will be able to add to this, based on local pereferences and needs. Each day the recovery area should be checked to confirm:
• resuscitation equipment and trolleys stocked
• drug cupboards stocked
• oxygen supply and delivery system
• suction
• airway trolleys stocked and basic equipment available at each bed space (i.e. Guebel airway etc)
• breathing circuits
• monitoring (blood pressure/oxygen saturation/electrocardiogram/respiratory rate)
• intravenous drip stands
• blankets/forced air warming facilities
• sharps and waste bins (clinical and non-clinical)
• telephones
• blood collection system available
• IT system
• Availability of trained recovery staff
• range of dressings/drains available
• access to sluice area
• alarm system to summon help in an emergency.
