This study was aimed to investigate English speaking problems of staff
members at SME Bank. The purpose of this study is to study the problems of speaking
the English language.
The subjects of this study were 96 staff who work at SME Bank. The instrument
used in this study was a questionnaire consisting of both closed and open-ended
questions. The questionnaire constructed was based on the theory and the literature,
and also the questionnaires were comments and suggestions by the three specialist
advisors.
aaaaaaaThe finding shows that the most frequent English speaking problems of the staff
members are a lack of chance to practice English (M=3.95). The second problem,
problems in grammar; the data shows that the bank staff have problems in producing
grammatical English sentences (M=3.70). The third problem is about vocabulary and
idiom; the data shows that the bank staff have to pause and think about the meanings of
words (M=3.62).
