Salivary flow rates of the panelists
ranged from 1.26 to 3.87 g/min with a mean of 2.64. As in the
Mialon and Ebeler (1997) study on saliva flow rate, the panelists of
the present study were divided into two groups, ‘‘high’’ or ‘‘low’’
depending on which side of the mean their rate fell. In this way,
six of the panelists had a high salivary flow rate while four had a
low salivary flow rate with standard deviations of 0.33 and
0.43 g/min,
