When plants are exposed to uranium in soil, the accumulation
depends on uranium bioavailability. Uranium accumulation in plant
tissues can be increased by changing pH, changes in composition of
solution, additions of chelating agents or chemicals that reduce a
sorption of uranium on soil particles, and also by the interactions of
microorganisms with plant exudates (Dushenkov, 2003; Ebbs et al.,
1998; Soudek et al., 2011a,b).
