You and your group members are the International HRM team in Mega
International. The Head of Operations calls you in. He reminds you all that there
have been some issues in recent years with overseas assignments – expatriate
staff members have not adjusted well to their new home; and have performed badly
or come home early. He wants you to really think through the issues this time, to
consider some of the key challenges in relation to expatriation, assignment
management and repatriation of the employee, whether and how they can be
successfully managed, and optimise the chances that this assignment will work for
the staff member and the company.
